The Zombie cocktail is one of the most legendary drinks of tiki bar culture. The cocktail was created in 1934 by Donn Beach (real name Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt) at the famous Don the Beachcomber bar in Hollywood. Donn Beach is considered one of the founders of tiki bar culture and is the creator of many tropical cocktails.

The origin of Zombie is based on an interesting story. According to the story, a customer wanted a strong drink to relieve a headache before a business trip. Donn Beach prepared this cocktail by mixing different rums and tropical ingredients. When the customer came back to the bar later, he said the drink made him "walk like a zombie". So the cocktail was called Zombie.
