COCKTAIL RECIPE
Mary Pickford
Mary Pickford is a tropical and slightly sweet classic cocktail made with white rum, pineapple juice and maraschino liqueur. With its fruity aroma and smooth drink, it is one of the early examples of tiki style cocktails.
The Mary Pickford cocktail is named after silent movie actress Mary Pickford, one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the 1920s. At the time, Pickford was one of the first movie stars to be recognized worldwide and was known as "America's Sweetheart".
In the 1920s, many Hollywood stars traveled to Havana for film shoots or vacations. Cuba was a popular getaway for artists and the wealthy from America in those years. It is said that the bartenders at the famous Hotel Nacional bar in Havana created this cocktail in honor of Mary Pickford.
