Negroni Sbagliato
Negroni Sbagliato is a lighter and sparkling version of the classic Negroni. The use of prosecco instead of gin gives it a more fresh and easy-drinking character. The balance of Aperol or Campari and vermouth, combined with the vivacity of sparkling wine, creates the perfect aperitif cocktail.
The story of Negroni Sbagliato begins with a pleasant "mistake" in Milan, Italy, in the 1970s. Mirko Stocchetto, a bartender at the famous Bar Basso, was preparing a classic Negroni one day when he accidentally reached for a prosecco bottle instead of a gin bottle. After the cocktail is made, the result is unexpectedly balanced and refreshing. This small mistake soon turns into one of the bar's most popular drinks.
The Italian word "sbagliato" means "wrongly made". The cocktail takes its name precisely from this accident. But this mistake actually gives the Negroni family a new character. The use of prosecco instead of gin turns the cocktail into a lighter, frothy, aperitif-style drink. That's why it has become very popular, especially among cocktails drunk before dinner.
