COCKTAIL RECIPE
Navy Grog
Navy Grog is a tiki cocktail with a strong tropical character, combining multiple types of rum with citrus and honey syrup. Thanks to its balanced acidity and rich flavors, it is both refreshing and full of character.
The Navy Grog cocktail is one of the most iconic rum cocktails to emerge from the golden age of tiki culture. It is considered to have been created by Don the Beachcomber in the 1940s. Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt, also known as Donn Beach, is considered one of the founders of tiki bar culture and was known for his exotic rum concoctions. Navy Grog has also become one of his most famous recipes.
The name originates from the British Navy. In the 18th century, British sailors drank their daily ration of rum mixed with water and lime juice. This mixture was called "grog". Over time, this simple drink inspired more complex cocktails in tropical bar culture. Navy Grog is one of the most famous interpretations of this nautical tradition in the tiki world.
