COCKTAIL RECIPE
Last Word
A cult classic with herbal and sour character, perfectly balanced with an evenly proportioned structure. Long forgotten, then rediscovered.
Last Word was created at the Detroit Athletic Club in the 1910s. However, with the Prohibition Period and changing tastes, it was forgotten.
It was rediscovered by a bar in Seattle in the early 2000s and instantly became a modern classic.
Four ingredients, equal proportions. Neither one dominates, nor one takes a back seat. The intense herbal character of chartreuse, the subtle sweetness of maraschino, the acidity of lime and the backbone of gin combine to create a surprisingly balanced structure.
