COCKTAIL RECIPE
Japanese Slipper
Japanese Slipper is a bright green, sweet and fresh modern cocktail made with melon liqueur, orange liqueur and lemon juice.
The Japanese Slipper cocktail is one of the icons of the colorful cocktail culture of the 1980s. This cocktail was created by Jean-Paul Bourguignon, a French bartender at the famous Miyako Japanese Restaurant in Melbourne, Australia.
In the 1980s, Midori, a bright green melon liqueur produced by Japanese beverage brand Suntory, became popular around the world. Midori's striking color and sweet melon aroma inspired bartenders to create new and fun cocktails.
Jean-Paul Bourguignon wanted to create a balanced recipe that would highlight Midori's character. The sweet aroma of the melon liqueur combined with the orange notes of Cointreau and the acidity of fresh lemon juice resulted in a very balanced cocktail.
