Vodka Gimlet
Vodka Gimlet is a simple yet balanced cocktail made with vodka and lime juice. It is one of the refreshing classics thanks to its vibrant citrus flavor and clean drink. The use of vodka instead of gin gives the drink a softer and more neutral character.
The origin of the Gimlet cocktail dates back to the British sailors of the 19th century. At that time, scurvy was one of the biggest health problems during long sea voyages. This disease was caused by vitamin C deficiency and posed a serious danger to sailors.
To prevent this problem, the British navy began to regularly give sailors lime juice. However, lime juice alone was quite sour, so the sailors began to mix it with gin. This is how the first version of the Gimlet cocktail is thought to have originated.

Over time, this recipe passed into bar culture and began to appear in classic cocktail books. One of the first written recipes appears in cocktail books published in the 1920s. Initially prepared with gin, Gimlet was later adapted into different versions.
