The bartenders working in the club's bar wanted to create a different version of the Martini-style cocktails that were very popular at the time. The use of maraschino liqueur and bitters alongside gin and dry vermouth gave the drink a more aromatic and complex structure. Thus the Tuxedo cocktail was born.
