COCKTAIL RECIPE
Manhattan
The character of the whiskey is balanced by sweet vermouth and bitters. A deep, aromatic and sophisticated classic.
The birth of the Manhattan dates back to the Manhattan Club in New York in the 1870s. According to the best-known story, it was specially prepared at a reception hosted by Lady Randolph Churchill, mother of Winston Churchill. Although its exact origin is disputed, it is generally accepted that the cocktail was born in the salons of the New York aristocracy.
At the time, America was changing rapidly; industry was booming, cities were growing, skyscrapers were shaping the skyline. Manhattan symbolized this transformation: strong, assertive and modern.
This cocktail reflects exactly that. The sharpness of the rye whiskey is balanced by the smoothness of the sweet vermouth. Bitters add depth - like the streets of a city, there are other stories hidden beneath the surface.
